Transparent products, consistent canvases
Transparency is information already stored in an image. A PNG cutout allows the canvas beneath it to show through.
Put a cutout on a canvas color
Add a transparent PNG, select a color and leave “Keep canvas transparent” off. The color appears in transparent regions. Inspect light and dark backgrounds for halos along semi-transparent edges.
Opaque photos keep their backgrounds
A JPEG of a product on a tabletop contains the tabletop as pixels. Filling a canvas cannot replace them. This release does not remove backgrounds.
PNG versus JPEG
PNG can preserve transparency when enabled. JPEG cannot, so it always uses the selected color. Converting JPEG to PNG does not make the background transparent.
Margins and fit
Padding is measured against each canvas dimension. Existing transparent margins count as part of the source image; trim them before import if you need tighter framing. Fill crops within the padded area, while fit preserves the whole source.
